Dear Family and Friends:
This week went pretty well! Spanish is rough, but going great! I'm learning so much more about myself, the gospel, and Spanish than I ever have! It's hard to believe I've been in the MTC for about a month! It's pretty weird to think about, but it's helped me so much! I just have about a week and a half left then I'm shipping off to Mexico! Some natives were giving me, and the other two people going to Reynosa in my district, some helpful tips on what to do down there and telling us that it's really nice down there! So they got me pretty excited.
The best part of the MTC is going to the temple, whether it's just walking around it, or going inside, I just love the feeling I get when I go there. Super awesome. My District and I have a goal to finish reading the Book of Mormon before we leave the MTC and I'm getting there. We started when I was in Alma and I am now about halfway through 3 Nephi, so I should be able to finish. I was also made District Leader! It's not too much different. I lead the meetings and go to different meetings. haha
So we have our devotionals on Sunday and Tuesday nights and besides the temple, they are probably my favorite part of the MTC! Yesterday David S. Baxter of the seventy came and spoke with us. He shared a lot of scriptures that explained what makes us different than other Christian religions and that we should never be ashamed of our religion and always stand up for it. Just like in President Monson's talk when he was in the Navy and though he thought he was standing alone, he still stood up for who he was and his religion. Elder Baxter also said that, "Our eyes should be bright from the fire of your soul". So I hope that people will see the fire of my soul in my eyes when I teach them and be able to know that what I'm teaching is true. I know the Spirit will definitely be a better teacher than me, because let's be honest, I can barely speak English so I'm going to need all of the help I can get from the Spirit for teaching in Spanish. He also brought up the point that we do not follow a dead Christ, we following the living Son of God. He rose up from the tomb and lives today. He also brought up the point of that we are leaving our families for a little while so that others that we bring to Christ can live with theirs for all eternity. I know that God's Plan of Salvation is a perfect plan and that if we follow His commandments and strive to be like Christ in everything that we do, we will be able to live with our families forever. He lives and loves us all.
Thank you all for your love and support!!
